Every Tuesday I’ll try and bring you information about an upcoming writer’s conference or class. Here’s the first one-
On November 5-7, 2010, the La Jolla Writers Conference is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Faculty and keynotes include James Frey of Oprah fame, NY Times bestselling authors Lisa Pulitzer, John Lescroart and Chris Reich, and international bestselling author Linwood Barclay – along with agents, editors, publishers, publicists, and a host of others teaching about the art, craft, and business of writing.
“Back in 2001, our first keynote was Catherine Ryan-Hyde, most famous for her book Pay It Forward which became a movie phenomenon. We adopted that title as our theme, and each year a group of us successful in the publishing industry get together and pay it forward to aspiring authors. No one, from the organizers to the keynotes, gets paid. We all donate our time so that the cost can be kept to a bare minimum at a beautiful venue in San Diego. Limited to 200 attendees, we have at least a 1 to 6 faculty attendee ratio and our faculty is chosen for their knowledge, their ability to share that knowledge, and their generosity in doing so.We are dedicated to putting on a stellar conference that affords aspiring authors the opportunity to be mentored by some of the best of the publishing world.”
