Another hot week but a productive one. I’ve been gathering information and doing research for my two non-fiction books. I think they’ll both going to be fun projects.
I’ve been working in some aspect of the publishing business for more years than I care to remember and I can’t think of a time when there’s been so many changes going on. Magazines folding, magazines going digital, new markets opening up. Just this week I heard that The Writer will go into hiatus after its October issue. It seems its parent company has put it up for sale. Hopefully it will get a new buyer soon and go back into production. It was one of the first writing related magazines I ever bought when I decided to give writing a try. I used to buy it at a local supermarket and sit and read through it for hours. That was back in the days when the paper wasn’t glossy but the magazine was full of great ideas, and best of all, a list of markets where I could send my work.
Don’t know about you but sometimes when I’m working on one story the idea for another one pops into my head and I switch gears and start writing two or even three at the same time. That’s been happening to me a lot lately…maybe it’s all this hot weather. I’m still working on my romantic suspense story but now have two other stories in progress.
I’m looking forward to the upcoming Olympic games. The perfect excuse to take a break from writing now and then, watch sports you don’t often see on TV, and of course, my hometown is hosting it. Can’t wait to see all the London venues and remember my days growing up there. Yes, I’ll probably get a little homesick too!
Have a good weekend and happy writing.
