A short rambling today because I’m close to finishing one of my book projects and eager to get back to work.
Monday sees the release of my short story in the Vanilla Free Christmas anthology from Evernight, and then on December 14th it’s the release of Naughty Noelle. My final holiday story and actually my last story of the year. I haven’t seen the cover but I hope to post it here next week. And so far I’ve kept to my goal of having at least one new release every month for the year.
And speaking of the holidays, we all love gifts so I thought I’d host a 12 Days of Christmas here on the blog. 12 authors who will giveaway books, gift cards, etc. There are still some open spots if you want to take part so just leave a comment or e-mail me.
Sad to see that Fictionwise will close its doors on December 4th. They gave me my first bestseller so I’ll always remember them for that.
We’re heading into some quiet times now that the holidays are around the corner. Lots of writers put off sending pitches to editors thinking they’re all donning party hats and drinking eggnog and not looking at their mail. Actually it’s the perfect time to send a query because other writers think it’s a bad time and the competition is less…that’s my tip of the week.
It’s also a good time to think about putting together your goals for next year. Are there any new markets you want to break into? Have a story that needs to be told? I have a load of stories running around in my head now it’s just finding the time to get them all written.
And I kept fogetting to mention this but thought I’d squeeze it in the last Friday of the month. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. It’s important to me because I lost my dad, aunt, and uncle to the disease. Its survival rate is very poor and mostly due to lack of research funding. Something I’d like to see change very soon so others like me don’t have to lose their loved ones. Have a good weekend and happy writing.
