Friday Ramblings From An Author-Holiday Weekend

Working from home has its pluses and minuses and yesterday I fell into the minus part of the equation. It was a near perfect weather day and the outside called my name. I had lots of writing planned but instead turned to gardening. I have to admit writing hurts a lot less the following day.

Rain is forecast so at least I’ll have a chance to do some catching up this weekend. And you’d be surprised how many ideas float through your mind when you’re digging in the dirt.

You know I’m a shameless self-promoter, and this time it’s I’m pushing my upcoming Seven Deadly Sins of Fiction workshop for the Outreach Chapter that begins on June 1st. It’s always a fun one and here’s the link if you’re interested or know someone who is-

One question I always get asked by beginning freelance writers is how do you get clips if no one will assign a story to you without a clip. I know it’s the ultimate Catch 22 but one way to help yourself and others is to write something for a non-profit organization. Pick a cause that’s dear to your heart and contact that charity and ask if you can help them write a story or press release or whatever. It’s good karma all around.

I’m about ready to start writing some fiction for the day. I’m working on the final draft of the fifth Perfect Pairing story, and as I mentioned before, got started on the second Niki Webber story this week.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend, and for those of you in the UK, Bank Holiday. Have fun and happy writing.
