Tuesday Guest Blogger-Caroline Clemmons

Say hello, to our Tuesday Guest author, Caroline Clemmons-

When did you begin writing?

I’ve made up stories as long as I can remember. The early ones always involved a princess and a castle, illustrated by me. What can I say, I was very young. Later, I studied journalism, which is a different way of writing. In my early thirties, I conceived the idea that would be a romance novel.

What’s been your biggest challenge?

Originally, it was finding time to write. My children were both severe asthmatics and required a special diets and care when they were young. Later, I was able to work for a newspaper, mostly from home. Still later, I wrote a second novel and sold that one to Kensington for their short-lived Precious Gems line. My second novel for them was full length. Now, I have my own tiny office in our home where I keep office hours. My family members call it my “pink cave”. The walls are heather pink.

Why did you choose your genre?

Actually, I write both historical and contemporary romance but always western. Early in life my father’s tales of his family events after they came to Texas in 1876 fascinated me. He was a great storyteller. I think that’s why I write mostly historical western romance.

What writing tips would you like to share?

First, don’t let anyone discourage you.

Second, find a good critique partner who is strong in your weak areas and who writes at about your pace. The critique is supposed to be about the writing and NOT personal.

Third, take advantage of free resources like Dave Chesson’s Kindlepreneur videos. I’ve paid for great classes from Mark Dawson and Nick Stephenson, but there are a lot of free video classes available.

What are you currently working on?

I’m writing my first for the Yours Truly: The Lovelorn Series titled DESPERATE IN DELAWARE. I’ve enjoyed working in these multi-author projects the past couple of years. They are great for cross promotion and also stretching myself a bit. Stretching my creativity is a good way to avoid becoming stale, at least in my opinion.

What would you like to promote today?

I’m excited to announce my next release, AN AGENT FOR JUDITH, book 79 in the Pinkerton Matchmaker Series. This is my third book for this series I enjoy. As you can tell by the number, readers love the series as well as I do.
