A cooler rainy week which meant I got lots done. When I say lots, it seems like I don’t have much to show for it, but it’s all about preparation.
One thing I’ve been working on is the sister site to this one that’s focused on self publishing. My intent was to have it mirror TWL Posts about what I’m working on, guest bloggers, tips for self publishing etc. However, I’ll admit (and for those of you who blog know this all too well), it’s tough blogging five days a week let alone multiple ones. Throw in other word/writing related work and your eyes get strained and sometimes you don’t want to see another word. So with that in mind, I’ve decided to make this sister site a commerce focused one where I’ll sell classes, coaching services, books and maybe the odd post or two with tips and news. Once it’s all set up I’ll give you the link.
Before I forget, today I was reading Publisher’s Weekly e-mail newsletter and thought this made for interesting reading. Seems like cooking and sci-fi are this year’s hot commodities in publishing with mystery and detective books not far behind. Here’s the link if you want to check it out…highly recommend you do just to see what’s selling and what’s not although you know my number one writing rule….never, ever write to trends. it’s the quickest way to lose interest in your story. Plus, as you can see, trends come and go quicker than you think-
After reading this it gave me more incentive to get my mystery finished. And yes, I’m changing lots of things in it so I think the end of the year is a more realistic deadline for its first draft.
Have a fun week and happy writing to all.
