It’s almost summer reading time and I’m thinking about the books I want to put on this year’s list. I was overly ambitious last year with twenty so this year I’m cutting down to 10. I’ll share my picks with you in the next week or so.
Seems like I’ve been writing non-stop and my fingers and hands have been paying the price. Someone told me about some free dictation software and I gave it a try.
I thought it was working fine until I went back to edit what I’d dictated. Some sentences I couldn’t figure out and had to think what I’d actually said. There were guys names like Roger and drugs such as heroin. (And no, I wasn’t even working on fiction). I know I have a Brit accent and maybe the software isn’t used to hearing one, but I don’t think I’m that hard to understand. At least it did give my fingers some rest but perhaps I should go with a paid version next time. And who knows, maybe Roger and the heroin will find their way into a future story!
I was actually working on a class I’m hoping to offer on Udemy. I’ve been taking classes on that platform for a year and really enjoy the fact I can study whenever I want. I thought maybe now it’s time to be an instructor there too. I’m also looking at a few other teaching platforms as well.
I’m just about finished with another first draft of one of my WIPs. It’s a shorter book and I hope to get it ready from an early June release. I also decided to bring storylines from two of my series together. Not sure if it will work but I’m like to try new things.
Today I sat down and planned out my schedule for the rest of the year. Lots of projects and whether I get to all of them before the calendar says 2017 remains to be seen.
Have a fun week and happy writing.
How does dictation software work with writing? Like, in what way can you go back and edit your work and do what you would normally do on a handwritten or typed piece?
As you speak it types what you’re saying and you can print and save it. You can also edit it, like change words, correct typos before you hit save or print.
Sounds pretty cool, I might try it out some time.
I just bought OmmWriter Dana II, and it’s awesome!
