Or winter depending on what part of the world you live. Either way, it marks a new beginning. Days start getting shorter again or longer.
New beginnings are perfect to look at goals. Ones you’ve set or ones you want to set.
Recently, I’ve discovered that it’s goals and motivation that are the biggest hurdles, or struggles for my students. It could be true for you too. With that in mind, I’m probably going to focus on those two topics both here at TWL, Skillshare, and I’m putting together ‘printibles’ that I hope can help you.
Speaking of motivation, I have struggled this week with working on my mystery. The weather’s been nice, I’ve wanted to go outside and do one of my favorite things, read. It takes me back to summers of my childhood and teenage years. Happy memories and that’s always a good thing for us to revisit. Last Saturday, I read for three hours non-stop. I can’t remember the last time I did that much reading all in one shot. I have a week off from teaching beginning next Saturday so I keep telling myself, read then, write now.
Teaching wise, the next two months are focused on short stories. July is the regular short story writing class while August we really get serious and the class becomes a boot camp. If you’re interested in either class or both or know someone who is, details are on the class schedule page of the site.
Besides working on my mystery, trying to keep the motivation going, I did re-release a back title, the second in my Kalispell Shifter series. Here’s a look at the cover-
That’s about it for the week.
Enjoy the first weekend of summer (winter), and happy writing to all.
