I didn’t think I’d say it this year, but it’s a scorching hot day…humid too which isn’t my favorite thing.
The official start of summer is still a few weeks ago but today I’m about to kick off my summertime reading. The first book I’ll be reading from my list is Mystic Falls by Vickie McKeehan. I’ve decided that throughout the summer I’ll stop working at 5 p.m.. 7 p.m. has been my norm but I know if I want to squeeze in more reading time I’ve got to cut back on work. When the weather’s good, I’ll be heading outside. It also means I’ll be cutting back on my writing over the summer but stories will be brewing ready for fall!
Thinking about books and reading, I just read that Barnes and Noble has been sold. I remember when the first one opened here. It was huge, so many books to browse…for this avid reader it was like going to literary heaven. Little did I know that years later I’d be spending lots of time inside various stores sitting with the authors I represented as a publicist while they had a book reading and signing. And not to mention the countless times I’ve spoken to community managers hoping they’d be nice enough to let my lesser known authors have a spot for a reading in one of their stores. Such happy memories and it’s nice to reflect back knowing lots of them are book and writing related.
I always say, once in awhile try and learn something new. For me, that’s currently graphics. I’m hoping to learn some new software programs that will help with making my journals and even book covers. I also hope to do some digital art one of these days but I know there’s a learning curve.
I’ve also been working on templates that I hope will be useful to writers. They’re based on feedback my students have given me so as soon as they’re ready I’ll let you know.
Thank you to Madeline for her guest post and the cute cartoon…just love the graphics she sends along with her posts!
I’m now ready to head outside with something cool to drink along with my reading material.
Have a fun week and happy writing to all.
