The cold and snow continues but it’s jumpstarted my need to get some serious winter reading done. I just finished reading Allie and Bea by Catherine Ryan Hyde. Yes, that was on a previous reading list and I just got round to reading it. I know, it’s embarrassing to admit how far behind I am. It’s one of the drawbacks of writing and teaching writing…there are only so many words you can look at in a week before you have to go watch a movie.
The book was great, and next on my list is a mystery by another one of my favorite authors, Deborah Crombie. This one is Where Memories Lie.
So besides teaching and writing, what have I been up to this week? I’ve been planning new classes, adding some to the Writer’s Room and in the process of setting up two other ‘school’s. They’re not actually writing related and I’ll tell you more about them soon.
You’ve probably guessed I like to work on all sorts of projects. One thing I’ve always tried to do is make a difference in the world or volunteer. Last year I set up a site focused on finding pets their forever homes. It got put on the backburner because I had so much going on but a New Year resolution was to add content and to start featuring animals that are looking for homes. This week I interviewed Jess Thoren who is a foster mom for kittens and runs a kitten B and B. I thought I’d include the link here for you to read. She has a wonderful Instagram site but I’ll warn you it’s cuteness overload. Here’s the link if you want to check out the interview-
(I should add that animals make the best writing buddies!)
Next week, I’ll be posting a sign up for guest bloggers for March and April…let me know if you want to write a guest post on something writing related and I’ll get you on the schedule. I’m also still toying with the idea of a Saturday seminar so stay tuned.
A couple more hours of work and I’m finished for the week.
Happy writing to all and have a fun week…stay warm!
