Let’s start October with another author in The Hot Seat…
Currently Reading… The Edge of Courage by Elaine Levine, a fellow Coloradan. The Edge of Courage is a contemporary romance about a young man struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and I like that the hero is a man with a flaw, a real man with a real life problem, and I still feel that he is a hero. The female protag is a caring person, the right kind of woman to heal him, to help him, and his problems don’t vanish, he works through them. It’s a sensual read, done artfully, and I have not finished it yet, just a few more pages.
Currently Watching… Well, I am not much of a ‘watcher’, other than Spongebob Squarepants and Phineas and Ferb, but…I am watching for Lisa Kleypas’ contemporary series to appear in affordable paperback, and always looking to read more Sandra Brown.
Guilty Pleasure…Since I am a mother and a small animal veterinarian, my guilty pleasure is stealing moments to read and write romance. Otherwise, I’m pretty clean, aside from my caffeine addiction.
Best Advice I ever got… The great yogis teach, “All happiness is in the mind. You decide.”
A country I’d like to visit… New Zealand. I have heard that New Zealand controls its population so that they do not become over-populated, and that it is green, lush, fresh-smelling, and beautiful there.
Highly recommended you read this title… I love Sophie’s Choice by William Styron. He won a Nobel Prize for literature for this work. It will tear your heart out. If you want to know what romance novel I highly recommend, I would have to say Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas. I love that story, that hero, that heroine. I love that he carries around her eyeglasses in his breast pocket, that he believes she is too good for him, that he is destroyed when he believes her to be dead. Did I give too much away. I love that book.
I’m Shamelessly Self Promoting…Free Me, the first in a trilogy of historical romances set in 1840’s Victorian England. Free Me is a story about a young woman, Isabelle, and her struggle to free herself from a false murder charge, and also to free herself from the belief that she is not worthy of undying love. Robert, the hero, teaches her that she is indeed worthy of unshakable love and devotion.
Isabelle is incarcerated for the murder of her father, and later transfered to an insane asylum. Fifteen months later, Rob is falsely accused of thievery, and due to jailhouse overcrowding, temporarily contained at an insane asylum. The convicts escape together, hide, assuage angst in each other’s arms, and fight for freedom from false accusations. Perilous twists and turns land them back into prison, with a final, desperate hope for freedom.
Free Me is published through Passion in Print Press, and due to be released on November 10, 2012.
Rescue Me, Isabelle’s sister Angela’s story, is due out in 2013. Claim Me, a novella about a family friend is due out in 2013, and Heal Me (sister Roxanna’s story) is tentatively going to reach readers in late 2012, or early 2013.
