TWL-Why and when did you decide to become an author?
I have been writing since I was 9 years old. I started writing to share my love for nature, traveling and the different communities I got to experience, with my classmates and family. For a couple of decades, I wrote without publishing. Fast forward to 2026, I wrote and published my first book, RJ’s Adventures in Temecula, which made me an official author.
TWL-What’s a typical writing session like for you?
Early in the morning, when the city is barely awake, is my favorite time to rise and write. I sit up on my balcony, looking at the mountains and the sky timidly clearing up while sipping a cup of tea. Depending on where I am in my book, this always grounds me and allows me to dream on paper. This is what I would consider my typical writing session.
TWL-What have you learned most from being a writer?
Being a writer is a journey that is both humbling and exciting! I have learned to enjoy every step of the process!
TWL-What’s been the biggest struggle and how did you overcome it?
Finding the balance between writing guidance and writers’ flow is one of the biggest challenges I am still working through.
TWL-What’s been your biggest victory?
March 21st, 2026, when I launched my first children’s book!
TWL-If you could give advice to your pre-author self, what would it be?
Your ideas and your talent count! Don’t overthink it!
TWL-What writing tip would you offer to a new author?
Don’t overthink it! Just start and polish your style any time you get the chance!
