Please welcome Judythe Morgan to This Writer’s Life-
First a little about me, I’m a native Texan who’s been writing award-winning fiction since 2003. You’ll find strong characters mingled with a touch of mystery and suspense in every story but no explicit content. Check out all my books at https://judythemorgan.com
After years of roaming as an Air Force daughter and then Army wife, I live in a small town northwest of Houston. My husband and I have raised three children, six Old English sheepdogs, one rescue terrier mix, and a Maltese. We have eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nine granddogs who fill our lives with fun and laughter.
I’ve worked as a Department of Army civilian employee, a schoolteacher, a former mayor’s wife, and sometimes a church pianist. I owned an antique store for years. Each of those experiences helped fill my books with interesting twists and turns and authentic characters.
The book I’m sharing today is Dead Body Girl, my latest release. The story idea came from an actual event—the chilling discovery of a dead body on the banks of the Shenandoah River during a party at a friend’s home.
You’ll also find something that happened when I had an antiques shop in the story. One of my container shipments from England was seized when customs agents suspected a smuggled object. Watch for it.
If you like antiques, suspense, and second-chance love stories, you’ll enjoy Dead Body Girl.

BOOK TITLE: DEAD BODY GIRL
Guilt has followed Gus ever since his last mission that went tragically wrong costing him his partner and his reputation. Now, he’s back in his hometown, working undercover at an antique shop with ties to the smuggling ring. The only problem is the shop’s owner is Mary-Dee Ross—the woman he’s always loved and the sister of the woman he couldn’t save.
Mary-Dee walked away from the FBI with its drama and violence, determined to build something peaceful. But when a wounded girl shows up at MDR Antiques door and the brutal MS-13 gang comes hunting, her quiet life shatters. Making matters worse, Gus is her bodyguard—bringing old wounds, long-buried feelings, and dangerous secrets with him.
Forced into close quarters and shadowed by deadly threats, Gus and Mary-Dee must confront the past that tore them apart. But as desire reignites and trust is tested, can they outwit a dangerous cartel, outmaneuver an international smuggler, and fight the undeniable chemistry bubbling between them? Or will history repeat itself, and Gus mourn the death of another woman?

What writing tip would you offer to a new author?
I’m sharing suggestions other writers gave me at various times in my writing career. The tips worked for me. I think they’ll work for you.
First and foremost, don’t give up, and never lose your belief that you have a story worth telling.
Ignore naysayers. Trust your idea and write from your heart. Success in a writing career is a marathon. Write what makes you excited to sit at your computer every day.
Read, read, read, in your genre and others.
Forget about how fast someone else writes, how much they make, or how many followers they have. Have confidence in your instincts.
Keep a healthy balance in your life. Exercise, learn, grow, fellowship, and explore. You’ll be healthier and your writing will shine.
Now, go write that story!
