One thing I did over the break was look at all the work I’d started and never finished. Articles half completed, stories with just a few sentences, a book half written, and some non-fiction books started last year…
The list goes on and I hadn’t realized how many unfinished projects I had. I was suddenly ashamed and knew I had to do something about it. I told myself before I began any new projects, I had to start to clear out the old ones.
I tackled one this week my Novel Writing Blueprint book. It got pushed to the back of the list last year so I shamed myself enough that this week I sat down and finished it. Armed with lots of cups of tea, dark chocolate covered quinoa bites from Brandless…be warned those things are highly addictive, I wrote and wrote. Today, I formatted it and even got it loaded onto most of the book sites. In fact, I think it’s already on sale on Amazon.
It’s amazing what a little self shaming can do for an author.
Here’s the cover…yes, made it myself.
Now I’m working on another half finished book. I’m not sure if I can keep this up week after week but it feels good to have a project out of the way.
Thank you to Barbara for this week’s guest blog. If anyone wants to guest blog just leave a comment or contact me and I’ll get you on the schedule.
I’m now ready to close out the workweek. I think next on my to do list is get caught up with some reading.
Have a fun week and happy writing to all.
