In the hot seat today is author Jane Lovering…
Currently Reading….On my Kindle, Lesley Cookman’s ‘Murder by Magic’, which was a free download, but I’m loving it so much I’m going to buy the full set of her Libby Sarjeant books. In real life I’m reading Ian Mortimer’s Time Traveller’s Guide to Elizabethan England. Wonderful stuff. May now have to write an historical, just to show off.
Currently Watching…. Nothing. TV is too big a time-suck. Sat down to watch five minutes of Chris Packham once, and when I stood up again it was Christmas. Never again.
Guilty Pleasure… Depends what you mean by guilty. Depends, I suppose, what you mean by pleasure too. Hmm, almost makes me wish I’d taken up bondage, or pole dancing or armadillo-molestation. But I haven’t, so I’ll have to say reading the Fortean Times with a plate of toast and jam. Which isn’t nearly so interesting as BDSM, but truer.
Best Advice You Ever Got… Don’t Give Up. Which is why I kept writing, even after years of disappointment. Also explains why I’m still trying to get into a pair of size 8 trousers, which have been stuck somewhere round my knees since 1993.
A Country or Town You’d Like to Visit…Iceland. Country, not shop.
Highly Recommend You Read This Title…The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. Honestly, everyone should read it.
I’m Shameless Self Promoting… My August release from Choc Lit, ‘Vampire State of Mind’.
‘Jessica Grant knows vampires only too well. She runs the York Council tracker programme making sure that Otherworlders are all where they should be, keeps the filing in order and drinks far too much coffee. To Jess, vampires are annoying and arrogant and far too sexy for their own good, particularly her ex-colleague Sil, who’s now in charge of Otherworld York.
But when a demon turns up and threatens not just Jess but the whole world order, she and Sil are forced to work together, and when Jess turns out to be the key to saving the world it puts a very different slant on their relationship. The stakes are high. They are also very, very pointy and Jess isn’t afraid to use them, even on the vampire that she’s rather afraid she’s falling in love with …’
It’s a new, and very British, take on the vampire novel, more about personalities than the paranormal, but with a nice, healthy dose of sexy men and bolshy heroi
Okay, Jane, I am throwing those trousers away now. I am giving up. Pass the biscuits.
