Say hello to today’s Tuesday guest blogger, Jill Piscitello…
When did you begin writing?
As a child, I loved creating stories. Since then, I’ve accumulated a long list of children’s books and novels that are still in draft format. The summer of 2019, I rewrote one of the drafts and the final version resulted in a sweet holiday romance. I was thrilled to have my manuscript accepted by Melange Books!
What’s been your biggest challenge?
Finding the time to write has been the biggest challenge. I’m a teacher, a wife, and a mother and value each of those roles. During the school year, few hours remain at the end of the day. As a result, most of my writing takes place on weekends, school breaks, and during summer vacation.
Why did you choose your genre?
As a reader, I bounce across a variety of genres. As a writer, I favor happy endings, hope, and small towns. Sweet romance and cozy mysteries deliver all.
What writing tips would you like to share?
Make writing a priority. I know the rule of thumb is to write something, anything, every single day. For many people, that’s not practical. My advice is to aim for a minimum of several days per week. Mark them on a calendar as you would any appointment.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently writing a sequel to my new release. I have to admit that it’s been a struggle. There are two versions because I can’t decide if I should go with a continuation of the stories focused on the original main characters or if I should write a stand-alone focused on two secondary characters. I am also almost finished with the first draft of a cozy mystery.
What would you like to promote today?
“Homemakers’ Christmas” was released October 20th. Looking for a heartwarming Christmas romance to get you in the holiday spirit? Grab a cup of tea and cozy up with the ladies of Lamplight Lane for an uplifting story of love with a sprinkle of secrets. They don’t favor day dresses and aprons, but they know how to make a house feel like home at Christmas.
