Friday Ramblings From An Author-Fall Reading List

alphabets-2518268_640

It’s almost fall but this week it’s felt like summer. Hot, humid, and air conditioning time again. The leaves are falling and piling up. There’s something about raking them when it’s hot that feels strange to me.  Years ago, it used to be chilly and you’d want to head indoors for something hot. How things are changing!

Speaking of fall, I got my reading list ready. I used to divide books into summer and winter lists but now I’m switching to all four seasons and my goal is to read at least 40 books a year.

If you’re interested here’s my list. Most of them I got through subscribing to Bookbub…maybe I’ll do a post on that one of these days. The rest were Amazon First Reads that Prime members receive. All the authors are new to me so I’m eager to check them out. Lots of mysteries, thriller, cozy, you name it.

Cranberry Bluff and also, A Flair for Beignets-Deborah Garner

Three Seconds to Rush-Danielle Stewart

Unforeseen-Nick Pirog

Dirty Little Secrets-Liliana Hart

Blood Work-Michael Lister

If She Knew-Blake Pierce

Off the Beadin’ Path-Janice Peacock

No Scone Unchurned-Leighann Dobbs

Murder at Yappy Hour-Diana Orgain

I finished all my summer ones…a first for me so we’ll see how I do with the fall list.

This week I got my next two back titles, reformatted and edited. I love it when I get ahead of schedule.

I’d been thinking about writing something to submit to an upcoming Chicken Soup for the Soul book. I kept putting off and then realized that the submission deadline was fast approaching so I forced myself to write something and submitted it about an hour ago.

I’m also putting together some notes that will go into workbooks for two of next year’s boot camps I’ll be teaching.  One focuses on promotion. I know it’s a popular topic for lots of authors.

I’m still thinking about whether or not I’ll have time to take part in NaNoWriMo this year…which by the way allows me to do some shameless self promoting. Next month I’m teaching a class about getting ready for it and setting yourself up for success. It’s the last time ever I’ll be teaching it because it’s a topic I’ve decided to retire so here’s the link if you interested-

Thank you to Judy for being this week’s guest blogger.

That’s about it for another week. Hope next week is a fun one for everyone as we welcome fall (or spring, depending on where you’re at).

Happy writing to all.
