Be as long winded as you want in your first draft, but after that, cut, cut, cut. Don’t be afraid to overdo it because when it comes to writing most of the time less is more. Could you have phrased something differently? Do you have two words side by side that mean the very same thing? How about passive versus active writing? Read through your work with an editor’s eye.
